WORK WITH ME
Most of your members already know how to quilt. What many haven't done is work with African fabric — and it can feel intimidating to cut into.
That's what these classes are for. I teach your members to read African cloth: to see past the colour, choose combinations with confidence, cut a bold repeat without fear, and design something they're proud of. Whatever skill they already have suddenly works better with this fabric.
My focus is the fabric itself — how to see it, choose it, and cut it well. That's where I open the door to African cloth, my home ground, and it's how members leave seeing this fabric with new eyes.
Each is a live 90-minute class on Zoom. Book one, or all four as a set. Together they follow the Quilt Africa way — read, cut, build.
Squint past the colour to see value — the light-and-dark structure that makes bold African prints work in a quilt instead of fighting each other.
Build a palette that sings: how to pair Ankara, Adire and batik so a quilt has depth, movement and contrast instead of clashing.
Fussy-cutting and pattern placement for bold repeats — how to cut African fabric so the motif lands where you want it, with little waste.
Take a pile of African fabric to a finished, intentional piece — the design decisions that turn a project into part of your body of work.
Prefer a talk or a hands-on session? These bring the same African-fabric heart in a different shape.
A rich, story-led talk (with trunk show) on African textiles — culture, meaning, and how it all connects to quilting. Perfect as a guild programme night.
A longer hands-on session where members put the fabric to work — a block or project that puts African cloth in their hands, guided step by step.
With love from the continent.
Hand-selected African fabric, and the knowledge to quilt it with confidence.
